Our Team

Paul Farr, Managing Partner and Co-Founder

Menlo Park

Paul is a Managing Partner and founder of Anthos. Previously, Paul was with Summit Partners, a leading global private equity fund. Earlier in his career, he was an associate in the Investment Banking Division of Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he advised and financed companies in the telecom, media, healthcare, and consumer products industries.

Paul received a B.Com. in Finance from McGill University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Paul serves on the Board of Directors of the Sierra Club Foundation.

Bryan Kelly, Managing Partner and Co-Founder

Menlo Park

Bryan is a Managing Partner and founder of Anthos. Previously, Bryan worked at Goldman, Sachs & Co. in the Investment Banking Division and Equity Derivatives group.

Bryan received a B.A. in economics from Vanderbilt University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude and a J.D./M.B.A. from Stanford University where he was an Arjay Miller scholar.

Chris Jacobson, Associate

Menlo Park

Chris is an Associate at Anthos. Previously, Chris worked for Recurrent Energy, a solar development firm where he identified and helped develop over $2 billion of utility scale solar photovoltaic projects. While a student, Chris spent two years interning for Anthos Capital, focusing on deal sourcing.

Chris received a B.S. in Atmospheric and Energy Engineering from Stanford University where he was a John W. and Condoleezza Rice Scholar Recipient. He also competed in two NCAA Championships with the Stanford Water Polo Team.

Tiffany Li, Associate

Tiffany is an Associate at Anthos. She received a B.A. in Economics from Stanford University, during which she interned for Anthos Capital, led Stanford Marketing, and enjoyed writing for campus publications and volunteering with local veteran's organizations.

Edward Wilson, Associate

Menlo Park

Edward is an Associate at Anthos. Previously, Edward started BlueRock Capital, a real estate consulting firm based in Seattle focused on evaluating distressed debt and development. Prior to that, he was vice president at Greenside, a sustainable development and consulting firm based in Malibu.

Edward received a Masters in Real Estate Development and Finance from Columbia University and a BA from Occidental College in both Cognitive Science with an emphasis in Neuroscience.

Gavyn Davies, Co-Founder

Gavyn is a founder of Anthos, a founder of Prisma Capital Partners, a $4 billion fund of hedge funds, Chairman of Fulcrum Asset Management, a $1.5 billion macro hedge fund, and a founder of Active Private Equity in the UK. Previously, Gavyn was Chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in the UK. Prior to that, he was a Partner and Managing Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he was the firmís Chief Economist and Chairman of the Global Investment Research Department. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he was an economic advisor to the British Government.

Gavyn was educated at St. Johnís College in Cambridge and Balliol College in Oxford.

John Hagerty, Co-Founder

Morristown

John is a founder of Anthos, and a Partner of Healey Development, a private investment management firm. Previously, John spent nearly 20 years in a career in Investment Banking with Salomon Brothers and Merrill Lynch. His area of focus was in Leveraged Finance in which he held roles in origination and management, responsible for raising billions of dollars of capital for clients in the below investment grade arena globally across loan, bond, and mezzanine products. These transactions related to client activity in the arenas of Leveraged Buyouts, Corporate Acquisitions and Recapitalizations as well as Growth Capital. At Salomon Brothers, he headed the High Yield Capital Markets desk. At Merrill Lynch, John headed the High Yield Capital Markets desk and also oversaw Loan Capital Markets and the Private Placement Group. He was Head of the Leveraged Finance Operating Committee and was a member of the Mezzanine Investment Committee, and the Debt Markets Commitment Committee.

John received a B.A. from Williams College.

Thomas Healey, Co-Founder

Morristown

Tom is a founder of Anthos, a founder of Prisma Capital Partners, a $4 billion fund of hedge funds, and a founder of FIA Timber Partners, a $750 million timberland real estate fund. Previously, Tom was a Partner and Managing Director of Goldman, Sachs & Co. where he created the Real Estate Capital Markets and Pension Services groups. Before joining Goldman Sachs, he was Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance under former President Ronald Reagan. Prior to that, he was head of Corporate Finance at Dean Witter Reynolds. Tom is currently a Senior Fellow and Adjunct Lecturer at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Tom received a B.A. from Georgetown University and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School. Tom serves on the Board of Trustees of the Rockefeller Foundation, the Board of Directors of Georgetown University, the Board of Overseers of the Hoover Institution, and is involved with several other non-profit institutions, including the Trustees of Reservations in Boston, the Maryknoll Missionaries, and Morristown Memorial Health Foundation.

Eff Martin, Co-Founder

Eff is a founder of Anthos. Previously, Eff was a Partner and Managing Director of Goldman Sachs & Co. where he led the firm's investment banking coverage of many of the most prominent technology companies, including Adobe Systems, Agilent Technologies, Apple Computer, Cisco, Hewlett-Packard, Microsoft, and Sun Microsystems. He was involved in the early stages of the firm's High Technology effort and provided guidance to many emerging growth companies. Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Eff was a Managing Director at Dean Witter Reynolds.

Eff received a B.A. and an M.S. from Rice University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University. Eff serves on the Board of Regents of Pepperdine University and the Board of Governors of the San Francisco Symphony. He is active in a variety of community organizations and is an elder at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church.

Chip Adams, Special Advisor

Chip is a Special Advisor to Anthos. Chip is Chief Performance Officer and a board member of Under Armour. He founded Rosewood Capital, a leading consumer private equity firm with investments in Under Armour, Annaís Linens, 3 Day Blinds, Cobalt Boats, Noahís Bagels, and Jamba Juice, among others. Prior to the formation of Rosewood, he was a Partner with Smith Barney's venture capital division, First Century Partners. He began his career at Bain & Company, where he focused on the Consumer Products and Services sectors. At Bain, Chip was one of the founders of Fanueil Investments, the predecessor to Bain Capital.

Chip earned a B.A. from Princeton University and an M.B.A. from Stanford University.

Howard Behar, Special Advisor

Howard is a Special Advisor to Anthos. Howard is the former president of Starbucks Coffee Company North America and Starbucks Coffee International. He joined Starbucks in 1989 when the company had just begun to venture outside the Northwest region. Initially serving as Vice President of Sales and Operations, he grew the retail business from 28 stores to more than 400 stores by the time he was named president of Starbucks Coffee International in 1995. After a two-year hiatus, he returned to Starbucks as President of Starbucks North America until his retirement in January 2003. He was a director of the Company from 1996 to 2008.

Howard is the author of Itís Not About the Coffee: Leadership Principles from a Life at Starbucks and is a frequent speaker on the topics of organizational and personal leadership. Howard serves on several profit and nonprofit boards, including Anna's Linens, Jewish Family Service of Seattle, and the Washington State Budget and PolicyCenter, and he is sponsoring a joint educational initiative with the University of Washington School of Social Work and the Business School.

Wallace Hawley, Special Advisor

Wally is a Special Advisor to Anthos. Previously, Wally was the co-founder and General Partner of InterWest Partners, one of the first venture capital firms in the country. Since raising InterWest's first fund in 1979, Wally has played a formative role in the success of more than 200 companies. Prior to founding InterWest, Wally was president of SHV North America Holding Corporation, a wholly owned subsidiary of a Netherlands corporation and a consultant with McKinsey and Company in their San Francisco and Amsterdam Offices.

Wally received a B.A. from Stanford University and an M.B.A. from Harvard University. Wally serves as Chairman of the Advisory Board of the Stanford Institute of Economic Policy Research and is a guest lecturer at Stanford Business School.
